Hi.

im really into recording and stuff im really good at mixing and everything. currently im using a boss br 864 8 track recorder, with upgrades which im selling now. but i was looking at the presonus firepod looks very good read all the reviews..but i had one question.. and no one wanted to answer me correctly. i know that you can record 8 tracks at once. but can you add on tracks.. like say i wanted to stick 8 mics on the drums. then go back later on and add guitars and stuff.. to have like.. 8 drum tracks.. 3 guitar tracks.. bass.. vocals and stuff like that.. is it possible to do that with the firepod or no? cause i dont want to waste my money on it if it is just another 8 track recorder. someone please answer. with what im looking for.

I hope you're still paying attention to this thread. The answer to your question is yes, the Firepod can do that. But I think you don't really understand what the Firepod is or does.

You're currently using a Boss recorder, which has mic inputs, guitar inputs, a hard drive to store audio files, and various processing effects. Everything you record is on the Boss recorder and your limit is 8 tracks.

The Presonus Firepod is completely different. The Firepod has mic inputs, line inputs, and some other stuff. It does NOT have a hard drive to store the music, and it doesn't process the audio. When you use a Firepod, it records onto your computer into a recording program. The Firepod itself doesn't store tracks or process them, it only records them into your computer.

I hope this was helpful, although this post is kind of old and you may have found out on your own by now.
