I was just curious if anyone had much experience with the MBox 2. If so how do you like the unit is it worth the $400 -$500 ? I was also curious if i should pay the extra money and get all the little goodies that come with it . . . Amplitude, drum loops, demo, etc.

Also how many mics can you run from an Mbox simultaneously?

I was planning on just using Sm-57 and 58's with a good condensor for most of the micing stuff.

I would be recording vocals, guitar, bass, and drums. possibly some keyboard.

Just general reviews and comments about the system. Thanks,

-Will

The Mbox2 is pretty good for the money because it comes with full featured music software. Most interfaces include limited software. I can't say I've ever used it but you really can't go wrong with Digidesign stuff.

You can run two mics from an Mbox simultaneously. This is kind of limited. Other interfaces give you the option of running more by using a preamp and sending the preamps output to an interface's TRS inputs. You don't have this option on the Mbox because it uses its TRS inputs for the same channels as its XLR inputs.

You'll have no problem recording vocals, guitars, bass, and keyboards with the Mbox2. You may have a problem with recording drums though. It's somewhat difficult to get a good drum sound from 2 microphones. Most people use at least 4 microphones when recording a drumkit.
