For all of you who helped me out on Sonic Youth (best album) thank you so much. I got daydream nation and it kicks ass. So now I humbley ask for your help again. Trail of the Dead. Not necessarily the most accessable or even most experiemental. Just overall best in your opinion. Thanks in advance. And if you hate one album you can be negative, but as always say why.

I second that, although the correct title is Source Tags & Codes. That's their best work by far, in my opinion.

If you don't intend on buying it, check out these tracks: "How Near, How Far", "It Was There That I Saw You", "Relative Ways", "Another Morning Stoner", and the title track. Those are all essentials.

Everyone seems to like Source Tags and Codes. I'm probably the only one that will say that I prefer Madonna more. To me the songs are more interesting.

What do you mean by "more interesting". More parts, less repetative? Or just better harmony/melody?

Thanks for the responses.

Although the production is much more raw (some would say this is a good thing), to me the songs stand out from each other on Madonna. Every one of them is well placed and the writing is better. It's one of those rare albums that's good all the way through.

Yes, Source Tags and Codes is a bit repetitive. This is my opinion guys (not trying to argue who is right or wrong). To me, the only good songs are "It was there that I saw you", "Another Morning Stoner" and "How near, How far". I find my self fast forwarding through the rest of the album searching for others that grab me. It's like they're trying too hard to either rock or be introspective - in the end, it sounds contrived.
