I didn't know in which forum category to put this, so here goes...

I've had this idea of taking the guitar jack out of the guitar and using that hum it generates when it contacts skin to create noise through some effects. I dunno if this is understandable, but I hope so!

I did this at my rehearsal spot, and though I never knew of this happening, can this electrocute me? The concept is essentially comparable to picking a jack by it's metallic tip from the floor when it's connected to a running amplifier.

Thanks for any answers!

No one has ever died from doing this, so I'd imagine you'd be safe.

Just dont lick it. :)

...and then stick it back in wet. It's okay to lick it, because people have done it before, (i think it was Steve Vai), but just make sure you dry it off afterwards.

No you will not die. The reason is because the third prong on your amplifier's plug is something called a ground. It leads the electricity back to the ground before it strays into some other conduit, like yourself.

It should be noted that if you are using a vintage amp that may not be grounded, it would not be wise to do this, or a variety of other things (such as play through it). Get it grounded if the amp is not grounded it is more a "when" than "if" you get electrocuted .

edit: I don't think licking the end would create problems if you plugged it back in. I'd think you would just create a better connection. Unless of course you slober a lot and you saturate the electronics within, shorting them out.
