View Full Version : Line Out Recording
I read in a magazine that recording via the Line Out jack of an amp will sound crappy. To me it would be the easiest way to record.
Have someone got a soundsample of a guitar thats recorded via the output jack?
It really depends on what you're using. Generally it's the practice to mic the amp, but if you don't have a good mic or mixer/preamp, the line out is probably going to sound better.
The whole idea is a generalization, nothing to swear by. Do what works best for you.

i dont have any sound samples but I will say that for the most part, micing the amp will sound better. Like the other guy said, though, if you don't have a good mic then the line out is the way to go.

Micing the amp usually sounds better, but Line-out is byfar easier and cheaper. If you're just making a demo of something for yourself, there's no point in being perfect. Go ahead and try the line-out, it just gives a different sound.
