Is there any big difference between recording with a solid body electric or a hollow body electric? I've been messing around with the difference and can't hear much of a differance but i was talking to a person the other day who said that he much prefers the solid body sound so I was just wondering.

It's no different from playing live with a solid or hollow body. With hollow and semi-hollow bodies, though, there is the added dimension of being able to mic it instead of run the pickups in, but you can sort of do that with an electric as well. All in all, there's no real difference.

well, no two guitars are going to sound identical, so it's really more of a question of whether the tonal differences matter to you. Different things matter to different people as well, so what makes a difference to your friend might not to you.

with my hollowbody, it sounds a lil more airy and open than my electrics, its really a barely noticeable difference anyone but yourself would probably hear.

The hollowbody is louder unplugged, so make sure you don't pick up your actual picking in the recording. Watch out for feedback, too.
