Hello Fellow Guitargeeks,
We've noticed recently a number of you are posting the same thread in multiple forums to try and get yourselves noticed. Cross-posting like that is a big "no-no" on GeekChat, as it causes the forums to become fragmented and can lead them off-topic. It also creates undue stress on those moderatoring the boards, who have to merge the threads together and/or move them into the proper forum.
If you have mis-placed a thread and would like it relocated, please send a Private Message to a moderator and we will take care of it. Heck, notify us even if you notice a duplicate thread! We much prefer that to having to hunt down duplicate threads for a merge procedure. Thanks.
Here are some guidelines we'd like all of you to review before continuing to post on GeekChat. Consider them the Five Commandments of posting.
No Personal Attacks! - You may hate a person's taste in gear, music or politics, but don't attack the individual by resorting to name-calling or profane exhibits of ignorance.
No Cross-Posting - If you don't get a response to a thread you start, please don't post the same thread in another forum. If we see it, we'll merge the threads together and place the new thread in a forum of our choosing. If you accidentally posted a thread in the wrong forum, please ask a moderator to move the thread for you.
No Bumping - If you do not get a response to a thread you start, please do not continue to post replies to your own post in order to "bump" the thread to the top of the thread list. Chances are nobody responded because the subject of your thread has already been discussed. Hopefully older members will help point you in the right direction. If this becomes a major issue, we may disable the ability to reply to your own threads.
Search Before Posting - We know you want to jump right in and start asking questions. However, please be considerate and search for your subject in the vast database of posts. Read up. If you find your question is not answered, by all means post a reply and revitalize the thread!
Keep on Topic! - Please try and keep threads on topic. If you find you want to rant or break off on a tangent, start a new thread. In some cases, we will split threads that carry more than one subject. In other cases, we may simply remove the posts.
Thanks for your contributions to GeekChat! Remember to have fun!
Best Regards,
Your faithful Hall Monitors
