What are some of the better budget bass heads. I may be picking up the old 4 string to play in a Hardcore band with a few other guys around here. I'm thinking something in the 200W range and a 2x10 or 1x15 cabinet from avatar.
Please do not mention peavey or behringer, I don't want to deal with the lack of quality control on their SS stuff.

Ebay (http://www.ebay.com) is your friend. You can sometimes find some old Ampeg stuff for really good prices, if you can some that's your best bet, you won't go wrong with Ampeg. Beyond that The Fender Bassman amps are fairly good, SWR is good and doesn't cost too much bring in a friend to play a guitar amp at the same time though, alot of the SWR amps don't seem to cut through very well. Sunn are nice and very very powerful if you can find one, has to be used as they aren't made anymore.

Really, just go into your local shop and plug into everything they have, see what you like.
