vintage style vocals?

I'm a recording noob...and all I know is I want to lay down some vocal tracks that sound like they were recorded in the 40's or 50's. I dont know how to describe the sound so I'm just hoping someone understands what I'm saying, haha.

I'm prepared to go purchase what I need, I'm just not sure what that is.
