Air in my Vocal Recordings!?

I need help. I've been trying to record vocals into my laptop using a digitech processor. The problem is there is an airy sound in the recordings whenever I use a microphone. I am wondering whether i need to get a mic preamp but I need to know if that will solve the problem. Please Help!!

Ok airy is a bit vague. Last time I checked air was silent. I don't see how a preamp is going to solve your problems but I don't know what your setup is.
