Hey everybody

I've got a micro br (boss 4 track recorder). I tried using the inbuilt microphone to record by putting it right next to (about 3 inches from) my peavey classic 30. However, it sounds much worse than plugging the guitar directly to the br and using the amp modelling technology.

I had my amp at quite a low level and the mic has a sensitivity control, any tips on making it sounds better?

Try using an external condenser mic with its own power supply. I used to get decent results out of a Sony ECM-MS907 (http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=101551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=11035340) and an iRiver unit. Used it to record rehearsals.

Thanks :-) would you reccommend turning up the amp as well ot make it sound better, as at the moment i can still hear the unamplified guitar in the recording?

Well I used that mic with a live drummer so it'll handle the SPL of a loud amp. I wouldn't close mic a loud amp, but you could put the mic in the room and do ambient mic'ing.

Walk around the room while you're playing and find the spot where you like the sound the best. Put the mic at that spot, at head level, with the L/R sides of the mic corresponding to your L/R ears.
