Line 6 echo park tap tempo?
Hey, im going to downsize my DD20 to a line 6 echo park. Im a bit confused about the tap tempo on it tho. Can you tap tempo in any mode? or it is only in the 'tap' modes? is there a line out for a tap tempo ?
also, anyone got an opinion on the echo park, im going to be buying blind, so anything i should know? cheers toma |

If its like the other Line 6 pedals then the main footswitch is the same for tap tempo. I've got the tremolo and you tap it gently to set the rate and then push hard to turn on and off.
Despite its weight I'm not sure I'd trust my tremolo live (I got it for a bargain so I didn't really care but it does hum) but according to harmony central reviews (http://reviews.harmony-central.com/r...Echo+Park/10/1) there's a real issue with reliability. I'm not joking when I say I'd check out the Behringer copy as well - mine have been nothing but solid

No reliability problems here, although you need pedal placement to allow you to control the pressure between tap and switch; one for the front of your board.
You can TT in any mode but not externally. The unit shows you what the tempo is even when in bypass.

i've had my echo park for several years, and it's worked fine. the switch is a little annoying at times, because it takes a pretty heavy foot to turn it on/off, but it's definitely managable.
as others have said, you can tap tempo in any of the modes. it's an imminently useable delay, i think. i use it for the swell mode mostly, but the standard delay/tap tempo comes in super-handy when writing new material with the band. i don't like it quite as much as the DD20 (i'm a sucker for presets), but if you're wanting a change of pace, the Echo Park is a good option!

The weight of those pedals is a big turnoff, actually. I have a Verbzilla and an Uber Metal that I would probably use more often when hauling gear to people's houses to jam, but they're so damned heavy I just grab something else instead. Plus, they require their own power supply, which also goes against my minimalist philosophy.

they do not. I run my whole board off a godlyke with 2 of those and 7 others.

And you don't get noise problems? I've always read that they create noise if daisy-chained with other pedals. Strangely, I've never experimented with mine to see if this is true or not.

No, no serious noise issues here. I wouldn't mind running them off their own supply but it's certaintly not compulsory.

I also had quite the volume boost when I engaged the pedal. So, Tom, have a look around for a good version. The newer, lighter ones [in weight] often don't have the volume drop problem.

Plus one for noise problems with Line 6. I can't run my trem off a power brick either (granted, all 10 spots on mine are being used) so its independenly powered. I wouldn't mind but ITS A TREMOLO! Shouldn't exactly be the highest power drawing circuit!

I found it to be mildly annoying when I demoed the pedal. I'm sure that it's something you can get used to, but I would prefer a dedicated tap switch.

ok, one last question. Can you do the tap tempo even when the pedal is not engaged.
i.e, can you set the speed of the delay before you turn it on? |
