Johnson Analog Delay Mod?
Has anyone modded one of those cheap Johnson Analog delays so it sounds better and has true bypass?
http://www.johnsongtr.com/Analog-Delay.293.0.html It's a tone sucker, I've played it, but it looks like it has potential... |

I hope someone answers yes. I'd love a decent analog delay that didn't cost $200+.

The cheapest way to make a pedal true bypass is using a true-bypass (loop) box. Loooper, Loop-Master, Keeley, or you can build your own for some $15.

those have got to be the fugliest stompboxes I've ever seen!
I'd go with the bypass box as well. You might be able to build it into the pedal, but there may be some surprises.

I'd just say use a looper too...
Also, I find that just boosting the highs on an EQ right after it cleans it up a whole lot... A mod I've been wanting to do is to add an expression pedal input to the time pot so I can put one of those peep photo eyes and make it randomly modulate and do weird pitch shifting and stuff... The only mod I've actually done on mine is adjusting the trim pot. And not meaning to thread-jack, but does any company like Bespeco make a bypass box? The whole reason I came here was to ask that very question... I'm not concerned with immaculate tone or anything, but I have a heavily circuit bent behringer effect which creates an annoying buzz when I hit a string, even when bypassed (I damaged one of the SMC's and had to make a solder bridge to fix the short which kind of burned the component and made it buzzy)... I'd like to be able to bypass the effect with a dirt cheap looper... I haven't actually looked into the aforementioned loopers, though...
