Yeah, if anyone inspired my initial playing the most it was Adam Jones.

I was very wrong to leave him off my list actually. I only tried Drop-D when trying to learn a Tool song.

Yoshiaki Manabe! Thank you! Too many people pass up The Pillows just because they're a Japanese band but they're damn good musicians that make good music.

Yeah I love The Pillows, i'd love to see them live but I doubt they would ever come to England. Yoshiaki Manabe makes me want a Fender Mustang, and I added tortoise shell pickguard, black knobs and white P/U covers to my standard tele to make it look like one... I'm so sad. But yeah, I don't listen to too many japanese bands, just them, mad capsule markets (just cause it's all simple and I love a bit of heavy dirt) and Dragon Ash. I don't mind not being able to understand the words, since even with english tunes I can barely make out what they are saying anyway.

I might have to check the out. And for anyone interested in Japanese music, I think I may set up a new thread in the "Now playing" section to discuss it.

Yeah they're awesome. I know they come to the US every now and then, not too sure about England though. They don't come around my area of the US anyway so unless I make a road trip I'm not seeing them live anytime soon. I don't mind not understanding the words either, I listen to the music and the emotion in the words more than the words themselves when I listen to foreign music. I like Manabe's playing style, the way he plays melodies over Yamanaka's chords that just seem to fit perfectly. It reminds me of Joey Santiago from the Pixies, which is no surprise I guess since they're huge Pixies fans. |

Do you play an Orange amp because of Manabe?
