Danelectro Daddy-O Overdrive - With their shapely diner-esque housings, the folks over at Danelectro have spent some quality time creating a unmistakable image with their pedal line. I can’t say the actual sound of the Daddy-o Overdrive is as definable. It’s a nice overdrive at ultra-low settings but borders dangerously close to distortion-like fizzyness at higher settings. The 3 knob EQ section provides some hope for taming the unit but we could never nail that valvey openess we prefer in an overdrive unit. It’s somewhere in between a Tube Screamer and Rat in terms of drive so if you’re after an tight and focused crunch, the Daddy-O may work for you. The Daddy-O wins big points for the stomp switch and it’s effortless switching but loses points on the tight cluster of control knobs that are extremely tough to make adjustments to. No rolling your foot alongside the knobs to make subtle changes here. |
