Anyone expecting the the original WH-1 Whammy here might want to look elswhere. While the XP-100 has its own strange merits and a few shining patches, it just doesn't have that organic and responsive nature of the original. On the other hand if you like creating noises and aren't looking for expected results, this thing can be a lot of fun. Sure the pitch shifter is slippery but that randomness can lead to a lot of unexpected moments. The Auto-Wah isn't the most accepting thing in the world and can slur you signal in ways you wouldn't expect. The Wah settings won't replace your old standbys but it has a bizarre synthetic quality that is like no other. The pseudo-Pedal Steel patches open up the possiblities for creating wild textures even further. For the right price these can be great noise makers just be sure and let yourself go wild with it. |
