The FX25B is the improved follow up to the old two knob standby, the DOD FX25. With the thoughtful additional of a blend knob this new envelope filter has the option of a little more subtlety than its predecessor. As can be expected, this eager little box can still pull off all those Grateful Dead-isms and funky disco whacka-whackas with trashy70s flair. The pick sensitive nature of the FX25B is very responsive and the effect can be very fluid and expressive in the right hands. You’ll definitely end up playing to the effect so don’t be surprised if you start sculpting cool riffs out of natural reaction to envelope filter’s response. It’s not for everyone but it can be fun being lead down some new avenues of fretboard exploration. There are more complex envelope filters out there but for the price the DOD really holds its’ own quite well.
