This souped up version of Roger Mayer's Voodoo 1 adds a little more overall range and a very welcome dose of low-end. This extended range makes this a perfect box for guitarists looking to add a bit of beef to their single coil instruments or bassists looking for a fat fuzz. It's a dark and menacing sound that screams with the best of them, yet chords and single notes make their way through the thick crunch unscathed. It's very refreshing to see this much musical clarity surface on the other end of a such a potent fuzz box. Backing off your volume or turning the pedal to minimum settings allows the Voodoo to show a sensitive side that responds well to dynamics. This kind of articulation translates very well to bass guitar. Even without the aid of a blend knob the Voodoo preserves the low end admirably. Tough construction and a simple three knob design instills confidence and ease of use. |
