After years of cranking out the substandard Soundtank series, Ibanez have finally redeemed themselves with their new 7 series. Out of all pedals in the new lineup, The DE-7 Delay is the definitely the standout with it's amazing sound quality and myriad of features. You've got your choice of either a crisp digital delay or a very convincing simulated tape echo sound. The delay has a nice tone which comes across much softer and hazier than the sharp pings found on Boss units. It's very musical and sounds great for standard repeats or cascading gushes of feedback. The Echo won us over with its' smooth and smushy signal. Whether you need slapbacks or oscillating freakouts, the DE-7 can deliver. The repeats are warm and diffused and really do sound very tape-like. With a whopping 2.6 seconds of delay and it's not very tough to decide that this new Ibanez has all the marks of a winner. |
