Testing and reviewing chorus pedals is a very subjective thing. Chorus in and of itself isn't a naturally occuring event with one guitarist wanking in a room, so taste in this effect boils down to personal playing style and individual tone. To us, the Cool Cat sounded pristine and ultra-shimmery. This isn't going to slap a a huge helping of thickness on your sonic plate but will add just enough of that breezy something to let you know its there. Don't let the retro-cosmetics fool you, I'd called this a contemporary chorus with that icy Andy Summer's vibe or even something along the smooth lines of the Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus. If you're in need of slick modern jazz sounds the Danelectro seems very well suited. When purchasing, please keep in mind that the newer models of the Cool Cat take only one 9 volt, opposed to the older one that took two of them. |
