This gem from the 1970s has a voice like no other phaser. It's not as mellow as the Small Stone, or as tight as the Phase 100, or as obvious as the Phase 90. It's a very specialized voice that is thick without taking over your tone and playing nuances. Your sound actually weaves within the phaser's sweep in a way that make other phasers sound a little lifeless. The sound is controlled by three very simple Rate, Depth, and Feedback knobs. The range of the controls is nearly perfect with both slow and fast settings that are useable. The transistion in rate in smooth and finding the right setting is accomplished very quickly. We were impressed at how clear and crisp the signal was coming from a unit that is nearly 25 years old. The unit does add a touch of compression to your overall sound but it's very pleasant and was sorely missed when we had to return the unit. |
