This is Voodoo Lab's faithful recreation of the famous Jordan Boss Tone Fuzz of the sixties. Soundwise, the Voodoo has that same fierce grit and low-end girth of the original but seems to clean up nicer at mellower setting. Changes to our guitar's tone and volume knob translated well when it hit the fuzz. This kind of musical interplay is what we look for in a fuzz and the VooDoo responds admirably. The Boss Tone flavored our clean amp nicely but really came alive when fed into an amp that was running a little hot. This lethal combination brought out the magic in both the pedal and the amp and brought to mind the meltdown tone of Hendrix. All in all, we'd take the VooDoo Labs BossTone over the original Jordan due to the modern convenience of true bypass, dependable electronics and a bullet-proof housing. |
