Voodoo lab prides itself on vintage sounding recreations of the pedals of the past and their latest Tremolo succeeds on every level. You'll find two versions of these throbbers around. The older discontinued two knob and the newer, and better, four knobbed version. While the older model was a standout for its price, this new model stands out even more with additional controls for slope and output. The slope lets you dial in a smooth triangle wave, a stuttered square sine wave, or a hybrid mixture of both. The useful output knob lets you compensates for the natural drop a tremolo takes during its sine wave travels. This feature alone gives the Voodoo Tremolo the power to jump out in the mix or hang back with subtlety. At mellow settings, this has that warm whoomph and tangible throb of an old Blackface Fender, while more aggressive settings hinted at some Vox-like of choppiness. |
