The DL-4 is the tacklebox of delays. With 16 different modes to choose from, I'm sure you'll find a few sounds to dig into. Classic models like the Echoplexes, Space Echo, and Memory Man are all here, and they all sound very convincing. The analog models have that same hazy tone and the disentegrating decay of the originals although they suffer a tiny bit from digitital coldness. As expected, The DL-4 sounds much better on the solid state models. The delays are crisp, clean, and beaming with their own pingy personalities. One model even allows for variable bit resolution, so you can get as clean or dirty as you want. Along with the more traditional models, Line 6 tossed in a few new interesting twists like Filter Sweep Delays, Reverse Delays, Delay with Modulation, and Volume Swell. Add to all this a spiffy 14 second Looper and you have one cool box full of fun... fun... fun. |
