You'll see a few different models of this sadly discontinued unit out there in the used market and all of them are worth tracking down. The Chandler Echos are widely known for their analog-like warmth and are a real treat to play through, especially if you're looking to shed some of that digital harshness in your rig. Whether it's an older brown face model or the newer black face ones, you'll be hard pressed to find any other digital delay that can come this close to nailing the old Echoplex tape tone. If given the choice in the studio most players may favor the Echoplex but for sheer dependability and longer delays, we'd take the Chandler out on the stage any day. All of our favorite echo settings included the activation of the handy "Hi-Cut" switch. Once flicked, the Chandler becomes a fluid delay that drips with analog personality. |
