The NS-2 is a pretty straight ahead noise gate that does an effective job of getting rid of all that pesky noise created from high gain or vintage pedals. Using the simple Threshold and Decay knob we quickly cured an annoying buzz that was coming from one of our vintage phasers. The noise reduction circuitry is smooth and we didn’t notice any signal interference. You’ll have compromise a little note sustain depending on the Decay settings, but that’s just the nature of suppressing noise. Take the time to dial this thing in and let it do its thing. In addition to running the NS-2 inline, Boss added Send and Return jacks for singling out those noisy effects and putting them in a seperate loop. This offers some added flexibilty for routing, looping, and switching possibilties. You might also want to forget about ever buying batteries since the NS-2 also acts as a power supply for up to eight effects.
