Boss SYB-3 Bass Synth - This is one of the more insane pedals to hit the streets in years. Boss bills this as a bass pedal but don’t let that stop you from permanently attaching this thing to your guitar pedalboard. Most of the 11 modes use your signal to trigger the SYB’s built-in oscillator to warp your guitar sound into a pseudo synth machine. The remaining two modes dish up some uneventful auto-wah sounds that didn’t come close to topping the sounds of the enevelope filters of the past. Stick to the synth and waveform shaping capabilties you’ve got your feet on one techno flavored device. We had a blast with the jam worthy hold/sample function that allows you to grab a note and play over the top of it. Aside from the obvious guitar and bass applications, we had some interesting results patching this into the drum channels on a mix.
