A knockoff of the classic Boss OC-2 octave pedal for under thirty bucks! Plastic construction and cheap connectors aside, the Arion is not a bad little octave pedal. While the tracking isn't nearly as dependable as the Boss, the Arion pedal has it's own little charming personality. Both the Octave, and Sub-Octave, slip around the original note with enough chaos to make this pedal a great noisemaker. It's somewhat comforting to know that the results, as random as they are, are actually dependable. Mixed with a decent distortion, the MOC-1 can breath a little fire into any fretboard adventures or even double as a pseudo-bass. Dialing in a bit of the sub-octave brings in a nice synth-like rumble that should perk the ear of avante-garde or ambient types. If you need spot-on tracking get the Boss OC-2 but if you're after a fun and loose experimentation the Arion is the one. |
